CHARGER ENEWS - MARCH 27, 2015

CHARGER eNEWS

MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

WOW!  The Art Show and Sale more than lived up to the hype and excitement!  As an Art Show rookie, I was absolutely amazed by the thought, the time, and the energy that was expended in planning and facilitating the event.  Hundreds of hours went into the planning process, and the PTO Art Show chair members Maggie Niemkewicz, Kara Hyman, and Lisa Albany deserve a standing ovation!

When people ask me what I thought of the show, certainly the beauty and skill behind the art comes to mind.  The show attracts some of the most talented artists in our region and without them, the show simply would not be a success.  The donations and raffles add to the event by offering people a chance at winning something art-related that they may not be able to acquire on their own.  The opening night invites CFE friends and families, as well as perfect strangers into our school to partake in locally-sourced foods while they take in all that the art show has to offer.  This brings together the true vision behind the event that was started 66 years ago...to partner with our community to support CFE...in the spirit of something truly special and unique to Chadds Ford, a love and passion for art!   I cannot conceive of another elementary school anywhere with such a partnership...and for that reason...we are so fortunate.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to the CFE PTO, all of our parent and staff volunteers, and everyone who came to support this wonderful annual event!

Please enjoy the upcoming Spring Break with your friends and family!  It's hard to believe that we are entering our final quarter of the year.  As always, thank you for your support!

MESSAGE FROM OUR PTO

A million thank yous to Art Show chairs Lisa Albany, Kara Hyman and Maggie Niemkewicz and to all the parent, staff and student volunteers. The show once again has raised tens of thousands of dollars that will fund exciting and educational experiences and purchases for all CFE students.

The next PTO meeting will be on April 8th at 9:15 am.  Enjoy your spring break!

MESSAGE FROM THE ART SHOW CHAIRS

Well a little snow could not stop an amazing show.  The Art Show was again a huge success and would have never happened without the support of the entire CFE community – parents, teachers, staff, Mr. Dutkiewicz, and friends of the school.  It would be very difficult to name everyone who helped out but for those of you who were a family sponsor, donated a dessert or water, solicited food, raffle donations or advertisements, put together an amazing artist layout, assembled a screen, bought a raffle ticket, sold a raffle ticket, put together an incredible program, checked in or out an artist, decorated a hallway, helped deliver, set up or serve amazing food, worked the sales floor or table, helped to park cars, decorated the school, helped clean up the show or who came and maybe purchased a beautiful piece of art or d├ęcor for their home – WE THANK YOU!!!   (We hope we covered it all J )  It really does take an army to run the show and we could not be more proud of how it turned out.  So thank you again!

All of this work was not only fun (YES FUN) but also directly benefits our children here at CFE!   Thanks again and it is already time to start planning for next year!

Have a wonderful break!

Lisa, Maggie and Kara

UNIONVILLE CHADDS FORD COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP FUND

This is the 52nd year that the Unionville Chadds Ford Community Scholarship Fund will provide scholarship aid to outstanding graduating seniors at Unionville High School.

The Community Scholarship Fund is a joint project between Unionville High School and our Parent-Teacher Organizations (PTOs).  The amount of money we are able to award differs each year, based on donations.   Our goal is to award 8-12 $1000 awards.    These annual awards are increasingly important to help defray the many expenses of post high school education and to reward deserving students for outstanding achievement during their high school years.

Any UHS student with a 3.0 or higher may apply.

Student activities and community service count for 80% of the score

Students sit for an essay which is graded by an outside resource, it counts for 20% of the score

Students with a 3.0-3.49 GPA get one extra point

Students with a 3.5-3.99 GPA get two extra points

Students with a 4.0+ get three extra points.

Please help us keep this tradition alive.  Over the years, the local community and parents of our students have responded generously with donations of every size to help keep the tradition going.

No contribution is too small.  Donors to the Unionville Chadds Ford Community Scholarship Fund will be listed and thanked in the 2015 graduation program.

If you or your business would like to contribute and support this worthwhile community fund, please complete and return the form below.  Contributions are tax-deductible.

Each year hundreds of people from our community and far beyond come to CFE to enjoy two days of incredible art.....but they also enjoy some DELICIOUS FOOD!  This year we have some fantastic food from our local restaurants, but the dessert table would not be possible without donations from CFE parents.  We are asking for 3 desserts from each class.  See more details in the sign up.

2. VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME AT THE SHOW

Word of mouth is great for this show!  Like our facebook page!   Show your family and friends our wonderful raffle items and purchase some tickets! (Get a sneak peak in the lobby cases at Family Fun Night!)

Both days we will have over 70 local artists and their amazing work.

Remember Friday night is adults only.  Lots of wonderful food from local restaurants will be served.

On Saturday in addition to the many artists we will also have some local artisans selling items like jewelry and ceramics.  Families are welcome.  Stop by the onsite Art Beat Studio and have your children create their own work of art.
