ROBOTICS COMPETITION INFORMATION FOR THE 2015-16 SCHOOL YEAR

We know many parents and students who wanted to learn more about FIRST Robotics Competitions were not able to attend our informational night because it was the same night at CFE's open house. There was no perfect night to hold the session because of the myriad of activities going on in May. If you are interested in learning more about how your Kindergarten through 5th grader can participate in FIRST Robotics Competitions during the 2015-16 school year, please review the pdf presentation from that evening (attachment to enews). Please also click on and review the hyperlinks in the presentation, which contain additional information. The most important information is that we need parent volunteers as coaches/mentors in order for teams to form.  No prior technical knowledge is needed -- just a desire to help our kids in this wonderful endeavor!

If you have further questions, or would like to sign up for a team, please contact Luci McClure luci.mcclure@gmail.com or John Nolen jnolen@ucfsd.net.

See the attached for more information.

CHARGER ENEWS - May 13, 2015

CHARGER eNEWS

MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Greetings Chargers!

Foremost, HUGE THANKS to the PTO Hospitality Chairs Caryn Karinshak, Patty Kutz and Tara Hurlebaus, as well as all of the parent coordinators and volunteers who hosted and/or supported the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon last week!  It was fantastic!

May is a very busy month here at CFE!  This week alone, we had Dr. Recess visit our students during their recess periods, Victoria Wyeth present to our 4th grade students, the West Chester Area School District spend an entire day reviewing our Math in Focus curriculum, our Spring Band, Strings, and Chorus Concert, and our annual May Fair!  What a week!

Next week, our third grade students and first grade students have scheduled field trips, and our 5th grade students have their annual Brandywine Picnic Park Day on Friday, May 22nd.

Friendly reminders:

Due to a snow make-up day, school will be open next Tuesday, May 19th. May 19th is a voting day and CFE will have voters in the building. Voters will only be permitted to enter the building at the Kindergarten entrance. Voting will be conducted in Ms. Morettini's room, who will hold class in another location in the school. We have scheduled an outside service to provide a guard for the voters entrance and a large screen will be situated to block view to the K-2 hallway. May 25th all schools and offices will be closed for the Memorial Day Holiday! Enjoy the long weekend!

We had some recent reports of people making a right hand turn (on red) at the CFE traffic light and driving through the entry roadway at high speeds.  Please be mindful of these traffic restrictions and help us to maintain a safe campus for our students, staff, and visitors.  If you witness similar violations, please make our office aware.

As always, thank you for your support!

MESSAGE FROM OUR PTO

We would like to thank all of our parents who donated items to help make our Teacher/Staff Appreciation Lunch such a success!!   We would also like to give a BIG shout out to Tara Hurlebaus, Caryn Karninshak, and Patty Kutz for all of their hard work helping to organize this event.

We also have a few committee chairs that we are looking to fill for next year's PTO… hospitality, family fun night, MLK day of service, yearbook orders, passive fundraising. Please contact Frances Galvin at fmgscd@gmail.com for more information.

UHS AFTER PROM – COMMUNITY WALK-THRU

Being held this Saturday, May 16th from 6:30-8:30pm.

Please come out and show your support!

The After Prom Committee is excited to reveal this year's After Prom theme at Unionville High School. Like many years before, parents and volunteers have been hard at work transforming the high school!! It is their goal to keep the students and community safe after prom. This event offers students a memorable opportunity to join friends in a secure & fun environment while providing activities, food and surprises. The event takes place "After Prom" on May 16th from 11pm to 5am.

Once again, to entice students to attend, Scott Honda of West Chester, PA, is generously donating a used car to one lucky student that registers and attends the After Prom event… and what student would pass up the chance to win a free car?

To follow the excitement, check them out on Twitter at UHSAP2015 and Facebook at UHS- AFTER PROM 2015.
