MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Greetings Chargers and Welcome Back!

I hope that everyone enjoyed a relaxing and fun-filled spring break!

Over the break, CFE received some added security with the addition of a new fence along the entrance to our playground.  The fence will remain locked during the school day and will hopefully prevent our playground equipment from "running away" down the hill.

Courtesy of our tremendous custodians, Mr. Ellis and Mr. Richmond, our  new Makerspace received a fresh coat of blue and green paint.  Research suggests that these colors elicit creativity and innovative thought.  It has certainly made the room "brighter"!

Courtesy of Mr. and Mrs. Barr, we received a beautiful addition to our lobby!  Mr. and Mrs. Barr donated a large showcase that will help us to display unique artifacts from our archives.  Huge thanks to the Barr family!

Friendly Reminder:

PSSA Testing for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will begin the week of April 11th.  General information and dates are listed below.  Parents of 3rd-5th grade students should have received a letter during conferences.  If you have any questions, please reach out to me.

Testing dates and details:

    •    ELA (Reading and Writing) Testing: Mon. April 11th - Thurs. April 14th

    •    Math Testing: Tues. April 19th - Thurs. April 21st

    •    Science Testing (4th grade only): Wed. April 27th - Thurs. April 28th

As always, thank you for your support!

Best Regards,

Shawn Dutkiewicz, CFES Principal

MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Greetings Chargers!

WOW...what a weekend!  The 67th Annual Art Show and Sale was simply amazing!  I want to thank everyone who contributed to the success of the show.  From volunteering time to donating food, the show would not be possible without the tremendous support of our school community!  The PTO Art Show committee did a phenomenal job planning and facilitating all aspects of the show.  Special thanks to the Art Show PTO chair members Maggie Niemkiewicz, Lisa Albany, and Kara Hyman!

This will be another busy week at CFE with Parent-Teacher Conferences.   I have received very positive feedback with regard to our online scheduling process (PTCFast.com) this year and I anticipate continuing that service going forward.  If you have any other feedback regarding the scheduling of conferences, feel free to e-mail me.  Friendly reminder! This Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are half days for students.

Our hallways and classrooms will soon be quiet for a few days.  I want to wish everyone a safe and relaxing spring break!  We reopen on Monday, March 28th.

All the best,

Shawn Dutkiewicz, CFES Principal

MESSAGES FROM THE PTO

The PTO would like to give a HUGE shout out to the co-chairs of the 67TH ART SHOW.  Thank you Maggie Niemkiewicz, Kara Hyman and Lisa Albany for all the months of work to make this a huge success!!!! We'd also like to thank all the parents and staff who gave of their time to help plan, volunteer, bake, setup, organize, sell, decorate, serve food, clean up, buy art, etc! The proceeds from show make up the bulk of our PTO budget….and all that money directly impacts YOUR kids.  Without the success of this show we would not be able to have assemblies, family fun nights, iPad/Chromebook carts, smart boards, and so much more.  Thanks again to EVERYONE who helped make this weekend a success!!! It takes a village!!!!

A special note from the Art Show Committee:

HUGE thank you to everyone who volunteered time at this year's art show! Artists and customers appeared to have a successful show and volunteering with all of you was fun!! Preliminary numbers suggest a stronger year than last year and this puts the PTO in a position to support the same programs or more, requiring no budget or program cuts. As you all know, this translates directly into more opportunity to enhance our children's school experience.

Special thanks to folks who stepped up to take on additional spots to fill in gaps where we were extremely short staffed.

Please consider helping again next year - as a volunteer, or reach out to this year's chairpeople to take on even a slightly larger role next year (organize food, volunteers, sales people?). We will email you when we have a date for next year's show, but it usually falls around the third weekend in March. This year was early because of the early Spring break.

Thank you again for your generosity with your time. We literally could not have done it without you all!

- The Art Show Committee

MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Greetings CFES Parents and Friends:

Our PTO is actively preparing for our 67th Annual Art Show and Sale this coming Friday and Saturday!

Countless hours have gone into the planning and facilitation of this event, and with only days away, we truly need your help!  The event is only made possible with the help of volunteers and we are still in great need.  Please consider carving out even an hour or two of time to assist us on Friday evening or Saturday.  The efforts and profits gleaned from this event directly impact the programming and school experience that we provide your children.

Please sign-up to volunteer here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0844a5ac2ea7f58-20162

Friday, March 11th there will be a complimentary reception while patrons have time to peruse the artwork. Each year, these patrons and the artists who provide our inventory, rave about the quality and availability of our food.  Local restaurants donate amazing appetizers for Friday night and lunch Saturday for artists and volunteers.  However, we rely on our immediate school community of parents, teachers, staff, and related personnel, for donations of dessert and bottled water.  Please sign up below for any number of desserts and indicate what you plan to donate. Please note that you do NOT have to bake what you donate!  Feel free to donate purchased desserts!

Please click here to sign up to bring a dessert:  http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0844a5ac2ea7f58-artshow

Please bring donated food items to school on Friday March 11th before 3:30 PM.  Contact Betty Kucharczuk with any questions: bettykucharczuk@gmail.com or 610-715-0048.

Finally, if you know a high school student who needs volunteer hours, they can sign-up to help here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0844a5ac2ea7f58-cfes

Thank you in advance for all of your help making this year's art show a SUCCESS!  We greatly appreciate your time and generosity and look forward to seeing you this weekend.

Best Regards,

Shawn Dutkiewicz, CFE Principal

ART SHOW    ********     ART SHOW      ********    ART SHOW

Not sure if you've heard, but the 67TH ANNUAL ART SHOW AND SALE is happening THIS WEEKEND - Friday and Saturday! :)  We still have many ways to volunteer.  Currently only 10% of our school community has volunteered to work a shift at the show.  Please remember that we only need a couple hours of your time - all the money we raise this weekend goes to technology, assemblies, and other educational activities that directly impact our children.  So what can you do to help?

1. DONATE A DESSERT FOR THE FRIDAY NIGHT SHOW.

Each year hundreds of people from our community and far beyond come to CFE to enjoy two days of incredible art.....but they also enjoy some DELICIOUS FOOD!  This year we have some fantastic food from our local restaurants, but thedessert table would not be possible without donations from CFE parents.  Help us fill all of our spots!!

 http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0844a5ac2ea7f58-artshow

2. VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME AT THE SHOW

We have said it before and we will say it again.  THIS SHOW IS NOT POSSIBLE WITHOUT THE HELP OF ALL OF OUR PARENTS.  We really need some additional help on Saturday. It is a great chance for Dads to help out as well!  We do thank all of you who have already signed up.

Also if you know a high school student who needs volunteer hours, they can signup to help here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0844a5ac2ea7f58-cfes

3. COME TO THE SHOW ON FRIDAY OR SATURDAY!  And TELL YOUR LOCAL FRIENDS AND FAMILY ABOUT THE SHOW

Word of mouth is great for this show!  Like our facebook page!   Show your family and friends our wonderful raffle items and purchase tickets!!!  (Maybe you saw some of the stuff at Family Fun night!)

Both days we will have over 70 local artists and their amazing work.

Remember Friday night is adults only.  Lots of wonderful food from local restaurants will be served.

On Saturday in addition to the many artists we will also have some local artisans selling items like jewelry and ceramics.  Families are welcome.  Stop by the onsite Art Beat Studio Saturday morning and have your children create their own work of art.

This show is such a wonderful event and allows us to do great things at the school.  Thanks so much in advance for all of your help making this year's art show a SUCCESS!!!!!

Any questions about the show please contact one of our co chairs – Maggie NiemkiewiczLisa Albany or Kara Hyman.

Thank you in advance for all of your help making this year's art show a SUCCESS!!!!!

ART SHOW - Please Donate Desserts

PLEASE DONATE INDIVIDUALLY PORTIONED DESSERTS

 http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0844a5ac2ea7f58-artshow

Dear Parents, Teachers and Staff,

Most school fundraisers target the immediate school community (primarily parents and relatives of the students).  At CFES we enjoy the benefit of a well-run fundraiser that brings in financial support from outside shoppers (not JUST our pockets!).  We have regular patrons who have no connection to the school other than the show.

We serve our contributions primarily on Friday night, beautifully displayed on a table in the cafeteria.

**Note: You do NOT have to bake what you donate!!  Feel free to donate purchased desserts!**

Click here to sign up to bring a dessert:  http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0844a5ac2ea7f58-artshow

Bring them to school on Friday March 11 before 3:30 PM.  Contact Betty Kucharczuk with questions: bettykucharczuk@gmail.com or 610-715-0048.

In addition, if you haven't already signed up for a shift during the show, please consider volunteering!

Sign up to volunteer here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0844a5ac2ea7f58-20162
