MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Greetings Chargers!

As part of our commitment to students, parents and staff the UCFSD administration and Board of Directors has approved a district goal to measure climate (or organizational health) in each of our schools. The Comprehensive School Climate Inventory (CSCI) is being given to students, parents and staff – so that we hear from all stakeholders. The survey is designed to assess perceptions of school life including safety, relationships, support for learning and overall environment. The survey is nationally normed and found to be both a reliable and valid assessment tool in measuring school climate.

The survey should take approximately 20 minutes to complete. Your feedback is important to help us assess our areas of strength and opportunities for growth as we understand stakeholder experiences at Chadds Ford.  All responses are anonymous – there are no names attached to the survey and all data will be reported in terms of the way groups of people respond to the survey.

The CSCI is an online survey and the window to complete the survey is Mon. April 25th - Fri. May 6th.

I thank you for taking the time to participate. Your input will help to inform our future planning initiatives to make CFES an even better place to teach and learn.  Should you have any questions about you or your child's participation, please contact me at sdutkiewicz@ucfsd.net.

Please use this link to access the survey: http://www.schoolclimate.net?l=e&t=p&v=4&c=1163041

PTO Support Needed!

The PTO has organized a tremendous social opportunity for our school community!  I strongly encourage you to come out this Thursday to mingle with other CFE parents and learn about the great opportunities for you to get more involved in your child's school!

Details:

WHAT: PTO Happy Hour

WHEN:  This THURSDAY - APRIL 28th at 7:00pm

WHERE:  BRANDYWINE PRIME

WHO: All current CFE parents

Please RSVP if you plan to attend at:  http://evite.me/6nebwdjaa2

Many PTO positions remain open for next school year.  Organizing and facilitating a major PTO event may seem like a great challenge.  Often parent volunteers who oversee these events work collaboratively as a team, so tasks are distributed and the event is supported on many levels.   Please consider getting involved in some of the great traditions here at CFE!  Without parent involvement and volunteers, we wouldn't be the school that we are today.  If you are interested in supporting and serving on the PTO, please e-mail Heather Marshall and Vivian Lee, PTO Co-Presidents with your interests.

As always, thank you for your support!

Mr. Shawn Dutkiewicz

CFES Principal

CHARGER eNEWS

April 18, 2016

MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Greetings Chargers!

I want to make you aware of an upcoming opportunity for all of us - Parents, Staff, and Students (Grades 3-5) – to provide feedback and input relating to our Chadds Ford Elementary School Climate.

As part of our relationship with the National School Climate Center (NSCC), we are asking all parents to fill out the Comprehensive School Climate Inventory (CSCI). Different versions of the survey will be given to students and school personnel, which will allow us to hear from all areas of our school community. The survey is designed to assess perceptions of the school environment, including safety, relationships, support for learning, and the environment within the school. Your feedback is important to help our team understand and address climate-related issues in our school.

The survey should take approximately 20 minutes to complete. All responses are anonymous as there are no names attached to the survey, and all data will be reported in terms of the way groups of people respond to items.

The CSCI will be administered during the week of April 25th. I will be sending the direct link and further instructions at that time.  Students in grades 3-5 will be presented the opportunity to complete the survey between April 25th and May 6th during their regularly-schedule computer time with Mr. Hirt.  Our school personnel will complete their survey during that window as well.

NSCC will compile all of the results and conduct a thorough data analysis. When this process is completed, NSCC will send us a detailed report of our results. Our school team, along with district administration will analyze the findings and use the information to inform future school planning initiatives.  We will certainly share the results with our entire school community as well. Thank you for joining us in this effort to make our school an even better place to learn by keeping an eye for the Climate Survey Link coming your way the week of 4/25.

PSSA News: This week, students in 3rd-5th grade will complete the PSSA Math sections, Tues. April 19th - Thurs. April 21st.  Thank you for your continued support with sending your children to school with a solid night's rest and a healthy breakfast to start their day.  Maintaining a healthy and low stress attitude about the test is important for our students.  Anything you can do to help foster a positive outlook on the test will be greatly appreciated.

CFE Multicultural Fair: Information was sent home last week regarding our May 12th Multicultural Fair.  Please contact your child's teacher if you are able to assist in any form.

As always, thank you for your support!

Mr. Shawn Dutkiewicz

CFES Principal

MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Greetings Chargers!

As you may have seen on our Facebook page, our PTO grants are starting to take shape!  Last month, the PTO approved a grant to create a collaborative cafe space in our 5th grade hallway.  Through the purchase of stools and high top tables and chairs, we will be using the space to provide students with a larger area to work with their peers, both in their homeroom class and throughout the 5th grade.   The PTO also approved a grant for a large smart TV that we installed this week in our lobby.  When fully set up, the TV will display scrolling pictures, videos, announcements and more for students, parents, and staff.   The TV will also make for a great tool during PTO and school events.  Finally, the PTO approved a grant for window graphics / security for our K-2 wing and we are still working on a design.  HUGE THANKS to our PTO for their tremendous support! Our next meeting is tomorrow, Wed. April 6th.  We hope to see you there!

PSSA Testing for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will begin next week, on Monday April 11th.  General information and dates are listed below.  Parents of 3rd-5th grade students should have received a letter during conferences.  Please encourage your child to try their very best on the assessments and as always, try to support a good night's rest each evening and a healthy breakfast to start the day.  If you have any questions, please reach out to me.
