PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

The Chester County Crime Victims Center (CVC) visited CFE today to teach our 3rd-5th grade students about internet safety.  Tomorrow evening, UCFSD is hosting a parent training at Hillendale Elementary starting at 6:30 pm.  The CVC will present information that is specific to K-5 students and their internet usage. We hope you can attend this important informational session.

Next week, our chorus, strings and band students will be getting everyone in the holiday spirit! Our K-3 Concert will be held on Tues. 12/13/16 at 1:45 pm and our 4-5 Winter Concert will be held on Wed. 12/14/16 at 1:45 pm.  Parents are welcome to attend!  If you cannot be present, our Winter Concerts will be LIVE STREAMED and archived on our CFE-TV YouTube Channel. You may be wondering...why so many substitute teachers in the building lately? This year, we have made a very intentional investment in staff professional development.  We have encouraged staff to take advantage of training opportunities to broaden their knowledge and experience, and learn how to apply new instructional strategies.  Specialized literacy programs and strategies, brain-based learning philosophies, and mindfulness in the classroom are just three examples of professional development trainings that staff have recently attended. Even as I draft this message, I am with a cohort of CFE staff at a Guided Math conference in northern New Jersey.  These opportunities will lead to "turn around" trainings at CFES so new strategies and ideas will be shared with the greater staff.  While it is not ideal to have our teachers out of the classroom, our continuous improvement goals and action plans rely on new learning and application of progressive strategies.  I hope that you see the value and understand the priority and I am confident that our time and efforts will further enrich our programs and student experience.

As always, thank you for your support!

Shawn Dutkiewicz
