Charger eNews - February 22, 2017

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Greetings Chargers!

I hope that you enjoyed the beautiful weather this weekend and extra day home with your family!

Conference Sign-Ups are Coming Soon!  You will receive an email this week for you to sign up for our March Parent-Teacher conferences (week of March 20th).  We will continue to utilize the PTCFast.com website as our conference sign up tool.  Please let us know if you have any questions!

Friendly Reminders:

Attention parents of 5th grade girls!  There is an exciting STEM activity coming up in March.  Check out the flyer (attached) for details.  Girls Exploring Tomorrow's Technology (GETT) is an annual day-long event in the spring for girls in grades 5-10 and their parents to learn about career opportunities in a broad scope of STEM related industries. The day is filled with exciting, enlightening and experiential workshops led by successful women in STEM fields.

Friendly Reminder: Please be aware that you have access to your child's lunch purchases through the School Cafe website (https://www.schoolcafe.com/initial).  Maintaining a balance in the lunchroom can be a challenge.  Our lunch supervisors do their best to maintain neutrality with regard to student choice but also try to support students with a "parent's eye".  We encourage healthy options first before eating snacks (chips, ice cream, etc).  There is also a maximum snack purchase of two items per person per day to help support making healthy choices as well.  For those who elect to purchase lunch, overseeing your child's choices is just a few clicks away through School Cafe. For more information on our district food services department, click here: http://www.ucfsd.org/food-service/index.html.

Family Fun Night is this Friday, February 24rd from 6:30 to 8:00 pm - A great way to get families together for some fun and exercise in our gym!  This year we are adding an organized dodge ball game in our cafeteria as well!

As always, thank you for your support!

Best Regards,

Mr. Shawn Dutkiewicz

Finally our next PTO meeting is next Wednesday, March 1st at 9:15 am at the school.   We will be voting on the second round of grant requests that were submitted.  We will send out a list of proposed grants prior to the meeting.  We will also be discussing Art Show, bylaws, open positions/chairs, and other upcoming events.  We hope that we will see you there.

Show your CFES Support!  You Shop.  We Earn.

We are starting a new passive fundraising project, and we need your help and participation!

Whenever you shop, save your receipts and send it to school so CFES can earn points/money through the Shoparoo program.  Any receipt qualifies:  Target, Costco, grocery stores, Walmart, dollar stores, pet stores, toy stores, beauty and health stores, WaWa, even wine & spirits stores!  Every receipt counts no matter how big or small the dollar amount.

Collect all your receipts from the week and send it to school in an envelope marked "PTO Receipt Rewards".  (Think of this as BoxTops, but with store receipts.)  You don't have to put your name on the envelope or receipts, so it stays completely anonymous.

This is a simple and easy way for CFES to earn money for school supplies, assemblies, and other PTO-sponsored events and activities, so start today!  You shop, we earn!
