Charger eNews

Charger eNews
September 5, 2017

Greetings Chargers and Welcome Back once again!

We had a great first week of school! As usual, we are ironing out the beginning-of-the-year wrinkles with arrival and dismissal. Thank you for your patience as we find our groove. If you haven’t seen our first-day video on Twitter and Facebook, please check it out. If you have not visited our Facebook or Twitter pages, I strongly encourage you to follow us. We try to provide our parents and friends with a window into the everyday happenings at CFE.

The start of school is a busy time for everyone. I hope that everyone is settling into routines and your questions are being answered. There is a ton of information included in this first eNews. With the changes to our start time, Mrs. McCloskey and Mrs. Poe created a CFE Office FAQ. Please reference the attached document for questions regarding arrival, dismissal, and attendance procedures. Our Bus Note template can be printed here.

We are looking forward to a great year ahead! As always, thank you for your support!

Best regards,
Shawn Dutkiewicz, CFE Principal

Social Media Images:

  • We utilize our Chadds Ford Facebook and Twitter pages to report news, provide reminders, and most often, share the great things that are happening in our classrooms each day. Many of our posts include pictures or videos. If you would prefer that we NOT include your child’s image in our posts, please complete this form. If you do not complete this form, it will be assumed that you approve your child’s image on the Facebook page. Thank you!

Parent Orientation:

  • Huge thanks to everyone who was able to attend our Sneak-A-Peek and Parent Orientations August 24. If you were unable to attend or would like to reference the information that was shared, all teacher presentations should be uploaded on their individual teacher websites.
  • For new families, my orientation presentation is attached and also archived on our website under “announcements.” Please reach out to me with any questions.

New School Start Time Information:

  • Last school year, the UCFSD School Board approved a delayed school start time at all levels in the district. For the elementary buildings, this means our new start time will be 9:10 a.m. Our official school day will be 9:10 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. The previous school day was 8:55 a.m. to 3:25 p.m. To support our families, students may enter the building as early as 8:30 a.m. All students will be supervised in our cafeteria and have the opportunity to purchase breakfast, socialize, do homework, and have access to games/activities. Students will be permitted to enter their classrooms at 8:55 a.m. Please know that our building will not be open and will not have staff available for supervision prior to 8:30 a.m.

Parent Training Opportunity:

  • A program focused on Strengthening Families is coming soon. The program is focused on families with children ages 10 to 14.

The CFE PTO would like to welcome students and their families to the 2017-2018 school year. We are looking forward to a fun year with many exciting activities planned!

The PTO is a great way to get involved and meet others in the CFE community. Please consider participating by volunteering your time and/or donating to our booster campaign. All funds raised benefit our school and students.

  • Our first general meeting is Wednesday, September 6 at 9:30 a.m. We will approve the budget and vote on a candidate to fill our second VP Board position. CFE parents, grandparents, caregivers, teachers, staff, and administration are welcome and encouraged to attend.
  • A few specific volunteer positions still need to be filled for the 2017-2018 school year, including Talent Show Committee Chair and Art Show Co-Chair.
  • Please be sure your clearances are up to date, as they are required to volunteer at most school events. Check the district webpage for more information.

Thank you for all you do to ensure the success of our school, students, and PTO! Please feel free to contact us with any questions, or if you are interested in volunteering for one of the positions above.

Best regards,
Kara and Dana, PTO Presidents

  • This year, students and staff will receive a new maroon-colored 50/50 cotton/polyester blend CFE T-shirt compliments of the PTO. Please order for each child attending CFE.

UCFSD 2017/2018 PTO Directory Orders:

  • The annual directory helps foster connections between UCF families. This year’s directory will be available for free in PowerSchool in the Parent Portal, in addition to the printed version. To be listed in the directory, provide your contact information by Friday, September 8.
  • To order a printed version, print and complete the Printed Directory Order Form and send it along with $8 cash or check (made out to your school’s PTO) to the school office. Directories will be published and delivered in mid-September. Please contact district-wide coordinator Becky Baccellieri with any questions.

6th Annual Fall Festival:
